| We care about your tattoos and piercings and we appreciate your business, so you deserve the best! Please follow these simple instructions for care of your tattoos and piercings. And remember, you can always come back or call if you have any questions of concerns. |
Piercing Care
- Do NOT touch your piercing unless you are cleaning it.
- Before cleaning any piercings wash your hands with antibacterial soap and hot water.
- A regular cotton swab saturated with sterile saline solution should be applied for effective cleaning on all piercings.
- During the healing period, it is common to experience discharge from the piercing. Crust that has dried on jewelry may be gently removed by a moistened swab just prior tto the actual cleaning (It will be clear or yellowish in color.)
- All body and facial piercings require two daily cleanings with warm water and mild antibacterial soap. If location and jewelry permit it, make sure to rotate the jewelry thoroughly. After waiting 1-2 minutes, rinse the area well under running water (while rotating the jewelry) to remove all traces of the cleaning agent.
- Don't overclean your piercing.
- Do NOT bandage your piercing.
- Tounge piercings: Tounge piercings require the liberal use of an alcohol-free mouthwash (like Biotene or Tom's of Maine) after eating and smoking.
- Lip/cheek piercings: Lip piercings require alcohol free mouthwash. Rinse your mouth as if you had a tounge piercing and clean the outside 2-3 times daily with saline solution.
- Genital piercings: Genital piercings require the use of a mild antibacterial soap and sterile saline solution. After urinating, wipe with a baby wipe.
Other things that can lead to infection:
- Touching or adjusting the jewelry when not cleaning
- Excessive cleaning
- Intentional or accidental stressing
- Use of harsh or fragrant cleaning solutions
- Allergies or a hypersensitivity to a specific metal
- Rejection of jewelry
- All signs of infection should be treated seriously. All infections should be seen by a physician.
- If you are unsure of a piercing's progress healing, please do not hesitate to revisit the shop or call 508-730-BODY.

Tattoo Care
- Leave bandages/wrap on for one hour.
- After one hour, remove bandage, wash tattoo with antibacterial liquid soap, and apply a thin coat of A &D ointment . Dial soap is recommended, however, Softsoap may be used for sensitive skin.
- Repeat this process every 10 to 15 minutes for the first hour the bandage is off. This removes the clear liquid (blood plasma) oozing from the new tattoo and helps prevent a scab from forming.
- For the next three days, continue this process, 3 to 5 times a day (i.e. when you wake up, mid-morning, lunch dinner and bedtime).
- After three days, you can switch to a mild lotion that is fragrance and dye free. Nivea, cocoa butter, aloe vera gel, Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion, and/or Vitamin E Oil can be used to care for your tattoo while it continues to heal. DO NOT use Vaseline, petroleum jelly, Neosporin or similar products.
- During the healing process (usually 2 to 4 weeks), you should avoid exposure to the sun and prolonged exposure to water. Showers are fine, however, swimming and baths should be avoided as the integrity of the tattoo may be jeopardized. Scratching and picking at the new tattoo are a big “No-No”.
- Some redness, clear plasma, mild swelling and tenderness is normal.
- If there is excessive pain, severe redness, extreme swelling or colored discharge usually yellowish or greenish) please consult a physician.
- If you are unsure of a tattoo's progress in healing please do not hesitate to revisit the shop or call 508-730-BODY.
